The Iconic Media Group has announced that it has appointed Senan Hogan as managing editor of the Leinster Leader newspaper and its news websites, KildareLive and KildareNow.

The Iconic Media Group is Ireland’s largest independently owned regional newspaper and media group and includes titles such as the Limerick Leader, the Kilkenny People and the Donegal Democrat.

Currently a journalist with the Leinster Leader, Senan has over 25 years’ experience in local and national media.
Senan replaces Laura Coates who had been managing editor for the past five years.

“I am both honoured and humbled to be appointed managing editor of the Leinster Leader,” said Senan, who began his journalism career with a stint at the Leinster Leader in 1997.

“The Leinster Leader was founded in 1880 and has an unrivaled heritage and brand in Kildare. It has been an ever-present part of local life for almost a century and a half thanks to a combination of its hard working staff and its loyal readers.

“The Leader aims to continue to serve the local community with coverage of local life in print as well as digitally through KildareLive and KildareNow.”

Senan worked at the Leinster Leader in Naas from 1997 to 1998 before going on to work in local newspapers in Counties Cork and Tipperary.
He later moved to Dublin and worked with the Press Association and the Irish Daily Star.
In 2015, he returned to Kildare as founding editor of the KildareNow news website which reached 1.8m monthly Page Views at its peak and he also led the editorial team in the Kildare Post - a popular free-distribution newspaper which suspended publication during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Senan added: “I’m proud to be part of a talented team at the Leinster Leader which is ready to embrace the unique and exciting opportunities and challenges in local media.
“I look forward to engaging with new and existing readers to continue to make Kildare a great community to live, work and visit.”
