Tenders are being sought by Irish Rail for works at a train station on the Kildare/Dublin border that never opened.

Kishogue Train Station in Lucan was built in 2009 at a reported cost of over €6 million euro.

It had been due to serve Kildare commuters travelling to and from Dublin but has never opened to passengers.

Plans are now afoot to open the facility later this year.

However Irish Rail said a range of ongoing works related to the facade is now required to facilitate commissioning and bringing this station into service in November 2023.

The existing station building cladding is glazing rain-screen which is subject to ongoing vandalism damage.

A contractor is required to design and install a façade cladding system to replace the existing protective metal sheeting (approx. 350m²) with tensioned wire mesh.

Works must provide weather protection canopies for a number of locations.

The deadline for receiving tenders is February 24.
