KILDARE: Oh dear ! Dreaded deer danger doe(s) demand action

Christmas may have come and gone.

However, some of Santa's most trusted lieutenants are still hanging about the place, like jarred-up lads in a pub after closing time.

But, but we'd rather you just left now.

The danger posed by deer for drivers has prompted a call for Kildare County Council to take action. Great care is needed for example when driving in the Glen Ding Wood area between Naas and Blessington.

It's not unknown for motorists to encounter the animals on roads in the Kildare/Wicklow border area and safety measures are needed to help reduce the risk of accidents.

Two local councillors - Evie Sammon and Colm Kenny - have highlighted the danger posed when deer arrive on the roadway without warning and at some speed.

They want Kildare County Council to place a sufficient number of “deer crossing” signs in the more rural areas of the wider Naas district, to include  Ballymore and Coughlanstown.
