Mark Buckley from Newtown, Maynooth, won the top prize in the annual Club Kildare draw which was held in Hawkfield Centre of Excellence last evening (Tuesday 20 August) writes TOMMY CALLAGHAN.
The winning ticket, sold by top seller Ann Ennis, sees Mark Buckley take ownership of a 3-year old unraced horse, trained by Charles O’Brien for the 2014 season.
Other winners on the night incluced Jerome Flanagan, Carbury (sold by Paul Fox) who wins a gent’s suit from Browne’s Menswear of Naas.
A fourball at The K Club with a meal, was won by Naas GAA (seller Tom Ryan); 2 tickets for Football All Irleand went to Nuala Kaye from Monasterevin (sold by Christy Kaye); 2 tickets for the hurling decider went to Norman Birchall of Maynooth (seller Ann Ennis) while the Brady’s Family Ham Hamper was won by Simon Molloy of Ardclough, sold by Tommy Buccle.
Pat Mangan, Chairman of Club Kildare, thanked all the ticket sellers and the clubs of the county expressing delight at the effort of some of the smaller clubs in particular, while again, expressing his disappointment by the efforts of some of the big clubs in the county.
