Minors crowned Leinster champions

Kildare lifted the Leinster Minor Cup for the first time since 1991 with a comprehensive victory over Westmeath today (Sunday 14 July).
Bryan Murphy’s squad took control early on with Wayne Fitzpatrick hitting four points on the trot.
By half time time The Lilies led by 0-8 to 0-3.
Westmeath got within three points on the resumption before Kildare hit back with two goals, from Mark Sherry and Chris Healy.
Westmeath were awarded a penalty on 54minutes, and Luke Loughlin made no mistake.
Tommy Carr’s side added a second goal on 60 minutes but the result was never in doutbt, Kildare winning 2-15 to 2-7.
