Kildare are through to the finel of the Tailteann Cup following their seven point win over in Croke Fermanagh this afternoone. It is a score line that certainly flatters the winners somewhat but having said that no doubt the best team won.
Played in horrible conditions it was substitute Brian McLoughlin who proved the difference comingn on in the 43 minute, the Clane man hit five points, one two-pointer.
James McGrath scored the important goal, his second green flag in two games.
Overall Kildare were far from their best, even allowing for the conditions, but they will put that behind them now as they face up to Limerick in three weeks time.
Kildare had led at the break by a point (0-7 to 0-6) after a very cagey opening 35 minutes, not helped by a downpour that made conditions very tricky and slippery. Kildare had two golden goal chances in that period but neither were converted.
In the end it was Brian Flanagan's side who march on to the decider on a final score line of Kildare 1-13 Fermanagh 0-9.
