Former Kildare courthouse confirmed for renovations in 2024

Local councillor also questions why new public toilet has closed
Plans to renovate the former Kildare Town Courthouse have been confirmed to get underway later this year.
The issue of why the accessible toilets were not available for the public to use has also been raised by one local councillor. These works were completed in 2023, but have since closed.
Cllr Paddy Curran put the question to Kildare County Council as to why the facility is not open to the public, with lack of management and funding given as reasons.
The council said the closure of public toilets, which happened in 2018, was justified due to the significant cost associated with their management, compared to the minimal funds generated by the facilities.
Despite this, Kildare County Council have admitted that the building is in "dire need" of renovations, which have been confirmed to commence later in the year.
