Ken Hom, the world’s leading authority on Chinese cuisine, celebrated Chinese New Year in Co. Kildare when he visited the Tesco Extra Naas to promote his newly extended range of ready meals which are designed exclusively for Tesco.
Ken wowed customers in both stores as he performed live cookery demonstrations and competed in two ‘Wok Off’ competitions with two lucky Tesco competition winners Mary O’ Rourke in Tesco Extra Naas and Muireann Quinn in Tesco Cabra.
The two lucky amateur chefs were picked from scores of entries who applied via Tesco’s Facebook page to take on Ken in the wok off competition in-store.
Ken’s ready meal range has been redesigned for the New Year with a number of new products now available offering both Chinese and Thai cuisine.
The range includes tasty Chicken curry, chilli prawns, spare ribs and crispy chilli beef. Packaging has also been redeveloped, with new a new ‘pot’ container design.
Speaking about the extended range from Tesco, Ken commented, “I am delighted to be back with Tesco in Ireland to celebrate Chinese New Year and introduce some new lines to our ready meal range.
“The range has a wider selection of oriental delights for Tesco customers to enjoy, with both Chinese and Thai dishes now available.”
Ken, who launched the collaborative range with Tesco in 2010, continued “What I like most is Tesco’s passion for getting it right. The commitment is impressive, and what we have created together has truly set a new standard.
“It’s hard to believe this is Chinese food straight off the supermarket shelf.”
