A series of three lectures honouring the memory of Italian-Irish Barbato Borza is taking place at Naas Library, with the final one takes place tonight, Thursday June 16 (8pm).

Barbato Borza was born in Dublin to an Italian family who came here from Casalattico, Italy. Naas is twinned with Casalattico and some of Barbato’s relatives have businesses in Naas including the Capri Grill.

The lecture series is presented by Kildare County Council with Herbert Lodge Arts Centre under director Barbara Hayden.

The lecture series has become an annual event and once again Dr Annina Ahola from Finland is the keynote speaker. This is the third year the event has taken place in Naas. The lecture will focus on Puccini’s “Turandot”.
