Pedestrian Crossing needed at Derrinturn School

Pedestrian Crossing needed at Derrinturn School

At the recent meeting of The Derrinturn Community Development Group, the members decided to contact Kildare County Council in relation to getting a pedestrian crossing installed at Derrinturn School.

The Group are very concerned with the current situation that exists at the school when children are been dropped off and collected each day.

Each morning the roadway gets completely congested and motorists have to carefully negotiate a safe passage through.

Concerned parents have told the Development Group that they are worried that an accident may happen due to the high volume of traffic in the vicinity of the school.

Derrinturn Development Group are hoping that a traffic management plan can be implemented and that parking can be provided for the school staff.

On a positive note, the newly formed Development Group, were delighted to see that the Council were now installing a new footpath from Cluain Dara Estate to Gorman’s Cross.

The Group will continue to work closely with Kildare County Council for the good of Derrinturn and that of all the residents.

Derrinturn Community Development Group are very grateful to Cllr. Seamus Langan for all his help and support with all their projects.
