Parents Association Fundraiser
The Parents Association of Scoil Mhuire are developing a school calendar, covering the 16 months from September 2012 – December 2013, which they will start selling from September next.
The sale of the school calendar will be a major fundraising event - with the funds raised being used towards meeting the ongoing and ever increasing costs of running the school, purchasing additional equipment, etc.
In producing this calendar, the PA would welcome any support from local businesses in return for an advertisement in the calendar.

The Ballymore Bugle is on sale this weekend with a fantastic spread of photographs from raceweek at Punchestown, the Juvenile Badminton Tournament and lots of local events. Don’t forget next weekend, over the June Bank Holiday Weekend, Hollywood GAA and Parent’s Association. Parish Committee are hosting the All Ireland & International Sheep Shearing Competition at Punchestown Racecourse. Eurovision popstars, Jedward will appear on Sunday, June 2 from 11am to meet their rural fans.
The weekend promises a feast of family entertainment amidst a busy schedule of serious farming business, i.e. sheep shearing and wool handling competition at international level plus sheep dog trials, trade and craft stands, pet’s corner, dog show, Leinster Tug of War championships and a feast of fun activities for the children. Live musical performers include The Willoughbys and Crystal Swing.

Juvenile Badminton Tournament Results
The club’s busiest ever tournament was held in Ryston Newbridge on Sunday, May 13th with a total of 65 members competing over 3 courts. The results are as follows: Group 1

First Holy Communion
Congratulations to the children of Miss Kelly’s class at Scoil Mhuire who made their First Holy Communin last weekend.
There’s a plethora of special birthdays this month including GAA footballers Tadhg Grace and James Kavanagh but ‘big birthdays’ for two of Chapel Street’s finest: Janet and Mary Deegan, the latter who celebrated her 70th earlier this month and threw a party for her grandchildren and grand nieces and nephews, etc. Both Janet and Mary are community workers and contribute to a vast sector of volunteer bodies so best wishes to the ladies.
Annual Senior Citizens’ Outing
Ballymore Eustace Senior Citizens summer outing will take place on Saturday, June 9 when a coach will leave the Square at 9am and head to Athlone for the day, lunch included. Anyone interested in going, please leave your name at the Post Office or with any committee member.
Playgroup Open Day
The Community Playgroup located at the Resource Centre is hosting an Open Day on Saturday, June 9 from 2-4pm. The facility caters for children from 3 to 5 years, free ECCE places available. Contact 087 671 6912 for enquiries.
GAA go Holistic
An holistic fair will be held on Friday 15 June from 9am-3pm at The Bandhall, proceeds in aid of four local hurlers who have reached the Féile Competition in July Ballymore Eustace. There’s also a raffle in Janet’s of Chapel Street so please, do support. The fair will showcase local practitioners including Cranial Massage, Reiki, Homeopathy, Forever Living - Aloe Vera Products, Blood Pressure Checks, Yoga Demonstrations, Sports Massage, etc. Entry €5 at the door with free refreshments served and a raffle also for a superb Aromatherapy Hamper.
Robin Hood a Family Affair
The Ballymore Junior Drama Group is staging Robin Hood and what a musical presentation that will be! Musical producer/writer/director Tracey Clohessy has roped in the assistance of her brother in law, Denis Closhessy, award winning musical director at The Abbey Theatre with choreography by renowned dance teacher, Sinead O’Brien. Mother Lily is busy making the costumes, dad Paul is making the shields and weaponry for the goodies and the baddies and sister Sue has done all the artwork, from stage sets to posters and programmes!
Thirty eight children will star in the production which takes to the stage in the Bandhall on 6, 7 and 8 June. Mother of four, Tracey has been very inventive with the script which boasts 6 maids including the original Maid Marian, who will be joined by Fraulein Bubbendorffer, Maid In China and cousin Maid In Japan, Maid Jacinta and Made Mistakes. Admission is €5 per child, €8 per adult.

A Duck Race will be held Sunday, 10 June at 11am - sponsor cards will be issued soon and ducks are €2 each or 3 for a €5. A cake sale is being organised to raise funds for our four Ballymore lads on their trip to the Féile Competition on July 6 and 7, date to be confirmed but keep an eye out for posters and updates on Facebook.

Sprocket Rocket Day!
Cycling Ireland National Sprocket Rocket Day is in Punchestown again on Saturday, 16 June. The Juvenile GFC will run a juvenile sponsored cycle from Ballymore to Punchestown for that day so keep the date free. Punchestown will be full of cycle friendly activities for all the family once we get there.
Ballymore Eustace Brass & Reed Band
Ballymore Eustace Brass & Reed Band are recruiting new members. The band currently boasts 24 members with ages ranging from 10 to 70+. Under the baton of John Clifford, the band is working on an exciting new programme which includes hits from musicals and movies and thus, require musicians across all sections.
John has recently been appointed as conductor and brings a wealth of experience to the band having previously played trombone with the BBC Orchestra and the Scottish Ballet. When John isn’t conducting the Ballymore Band, he can be seen performing with the RTÉ Orchestra or on the Late Late Show. Keep fit at the GAA Grounds
Have you checked out the new cardio vascular equipment at the local GAA grounds recently? Ballymore GFC is the first club in Ireland to introduce a designated outdoor area with equipment suitable for all users but especially the elderly. There’s also a walking track available to all, but please put a donation in the collection box for the club towards lighting and maintenance or you can contact Tom O’Rourke or Eoghan Barrett and become a club member. Donations go towards the upkeep of the club grounds and also towards the fund to purchase second playing pitch to cater for growing number of Juvenile teams.
Yoga in Ballymore
Sophie Cowley of Horsepasstown, daughter in law of Colette and Richard Cowley, will begin Yoga classes on Mondays starting Monday 14 May from 8-9.30pm at the Ballymore Inn, all levels welcome. Classes cost €50 per 6 classes or €10 drop in charge per class. Contact Sophie on 087 773 0387 for further details.

Ballymore Eustace Golf Society teed off to Coollattin last Saturday in preparation for their outing to the Smurfit Course at the K-Club on June 21. Cost: €50 for fully paid up members, €60 for visitors including breakfast followed by an evening of celebration in Paddy’s.
Two Bingo Jackpots
Bingo is held at The Resource Centre every Wednesday at 8pm with two jackpots, currently valued at over €5,000 between them. All proceeds in aid of the Resource Centre.
