Reminder of pay parking review

Councillor Paddy Kennedy wishes to remind the members of the public that the closing date for submissions on the revised Pay Parking Plan for Newbridge must be sent to Kildare Co. Council to arrive no later than 20 July.

Cllr Kennedy is anxious to point that this is an important opportunity for people to have their say on this often vexed issue and he further advises that it may be anything up to ten years before a similar opportunity arises for the members of the public.

Submissions can be sent to: Pay Parking, Kildare Co Council, Devoy Park, Naas or to any local representative.

Fun Dog Show for animal charity

A Fun Dog Show in aid of Kildare Animal Foundation takes place on Sunday June 24 in St Brigid’s Park, Kildare Town at 2pm.

Lots of categories open to all dogs. The cost is €2 per category per dog. Low cost micro chipping, doggy nail clipping, and healing, Bric a brac, doggy treats etc on the day. All welcome.

Cemetery Mass

The Cemetery Mass in St. Conleth’s, Newbridge will take place on Monday, 2 July at 7.30pm.

The Cemetery Mass in Caragh will take place on Saturday 7 July at 6.30pm.

Patrician Summer Camp

Camp Liveworks 2012 is back! - Dates: Monday 9 to Friday 13 July. Venue: Patrician Secondary School, Newbridge, Ages: 4-13 years.

Lough Derg

A 3 Day Pilgrimage to Lough Derg will take place from Friday 6 July to Sunday 8July. Bus leaves from Charlie outside The Kiosk flower shop, Main Street, Newbridge at 5.40am. For more details please contact Michael Sammon on 087 6697902.

Newbridge Local History Group

The final meeting before the summer break will take place in Sarsfield GAA Clubhouse on Wednesday, 20 June at 8.30pm.

Included in the programme will be a slide show of photographs acquired over the last few months.

All those interested in local history, and in seeing unique views of the town over the years, are welcome. Your support is very much appreciated.

Items found

The following items have been ‘found’ on the grass margin along the much favoured walkers’ route on Roseberry Bog: A PC monitor, Printer, lawn mower (partly dismantled), one Sony Speaker, and one backpack.

These items have been left in situ and no doubt the owner will be anxious to retrieve them.

Congratulations on Camino Walk achievement

Congratulations to Newbridge local Mary Doyle, a popular figure in many local organisations and an official of AIB who has just returned having completed the full Camino walk of about 800 kilometres over a four week period.

She described the experience as a demanding one but also very rewarding. Well done Mary on a wonderful achievement.

The following won medals at the County Finals: Girls’ under 8 freestyle:- 2nd- Bebhinn Howard. Girls’ under 12 Breaststroke,- 2nd, Leah Delaney. Girls’ under 12 Backstroke-2nd, Millie Case, 4th, Anna Young. Girls under 14 Breaststroke-4th, Ciara Regan.

Boys’ under 8 Freestyle,-2nd, Ian Ferguson. Boys under 12 Backstroke-1st, Cian Comerford. Boys’ under 14 Breaststroke-1st, Calum Sourke.

Girls’ under 13 Squad -3rd:-Hannah Rasmussen, Ciara Regan, Gretta Martisauskaite, Leah Delaney, Anna Young, and Naoise McBride.

Boys’ under 13 Squad: - 1st, Ethan Comerford, Cian Comerford, JB Murphy, and Calum Sourke.

One winner in Parish Lotto draw

The winning numbers in the Parish Lotto were: 3, 4, 9 and 20. There was one winner: Mary Sexton c/o Newbridge Town Bingo. The Jackpot was €7,000.

There were also fourteen people who managed to match three numbers to share €1,000. Next Week’s Jackpot is €2,000.

Helping people endure depression

Endure Depression Hope(d) Counselling Service, 3 Limerick Lane, Newbridge has been providing counselling services in the Kildare area for the past 9 years. It was established in 2003 by the founder Sean O’Sullivan.

Over the years counsellors have provided support to a broad range of people, particularly those who cannot afford to pay for private counselling.

Do not allow your financial position to deter you from utilising the counselling services. Just simply donate what you can, if you can.

Counsellors offer support in numerous areas, depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, bereavement, low self esteem, addiction and many more.

They serve all areas in Kildare. Please don’t hesitate to call the qualified counsellors for an appointment on 087 1513535. Confidentiality is paramount to all services.

Exercises for Arthritis Sufferers

Summer Camp At Herbert Lodge

Herbert Lodge Arts Centre, the Curragh is holding its annual Music Summer School from Monday 16 to-Friday 20 July 2012. The camps are for ages 4 -15 years, and run from 9.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. daily. Children will experience playing and performing on a variety of instruments including violin, cello, piano, guitar, percussion, singing, and kindermusic. This year we will be adding an art element, as the children create their own range of percussion instruments. We are pleased to announce the arrival of Russian cellist Tatiana Guldan, who is travelling to give tuition in cello. Make a Monster T-Shirt workshop

The Riverbank Arts Centre is hosting a children’s workshop on June 23 at 11am suitable for children aged 8 - 12 years, called “Make a Monster T-shirt”. The price is €20 which includes the T-shirt.

Award-winning illustrator Chris Judge will lead this one-off workshop where participants will get the chance to make their very own monster t-shirt!

The first part of the process will involve creating your very own crazy creature or beastly logo, which will then be used to produce a unique t-shirt design that will make you the envy of all your friends! Price includes a cotton t-shirt that can be taken home after the workshop – please let them know your child’s required size when booking a place.

Make Kildare’s largest ever print

As part of Print Block Workshops and in association with PrintBlock collective, Newbridge will be attempting to make Kildare’s largest print! Join the fabulous artists of PrintBlock textile print collective for very special workshop to celebrate the launch of their first exhibition at Riverbank, Crossroads & Journeys.

The workshop will engage children with visual imagery relating to journeys, crossroads, home, past and future.

Participants will have the chance to learn about and experience a variety of print techniques including screen-printing, mono-printing and block-printing and will be the first to make their mark on Kildare’s longest ever textile print. The workshop is on July 7 at 11am and admission is free. The Riverbank is calling on local families to help decorate the longest textile print ever produced in Co Kildare. Drop in from 1pm to make your mark in ink.
