Please remember that April is Spring Clean month so organise a group in your area to do a clean up. If you need help please call Celine, Secretary, on 087 1917647. A Wild Life garden has started to bloom at the Fair Green. We are having a ceremony to celebrate the start of this beautiful garden on Sturday April 21st at 11am and we invite everyone to attend. Our next meeting is on tuesday April 17 at 8pm in the Community Centre. Summer planting and our Garden Competition are on the agenda for discussion. Please come along if you are interested in planting up for summer.

Seasons shop

Our second hand store had a wonderful Easter window display and many customers came through the doors. Thanks to you all for your continued support. A big Thank You to all our voluntary staff. If you would like to work in the shop voluntarily, please call in during our opening hours - thursday, Friday and Saturday 10am to 4.30pm. If you are looking for an outfit, why not come in and browse, you will be surprised what you may find on our rails.

Easter raffle

Siobhan Phelan reports - Scoil Diarmada Parents Association would like to thank all those who supported our Easter Raffle. The raffle took place in the school on Friday 30th March before the children got their Easter Holidays. There was a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny who officiated at the raffle. The winners of the raffle were : 1st Prize Voucher & Hamper: Michelle Behan; 2nd Prize Easter Cake: Angie Wrenn; 3rd Prize Hamper: Anthony Gray; 4th Prize Car Stereo : Caroline Keogh; 5th Prize Hamper: Sarah Polcer; 6th Prize Voucher & Chocolates: Amelia Murphy Cosgrave. A big thank you also to all those whom donated prizes for the raffle.

Scoil Diarmada Parents Association would also like to thank all those who collected the “Independent Go Play To-Day” tokens for the school. Hopefully we will be lucky enough to receive one of the 500 Go Play Today Kits for the school. All extra tokens went to Castledermot GAA and Castle Villa Soccer club who also both reached the 250 tokens target.

Our Annual Fun Day will take place this year on the Sunday 27th May at 2pm in the school grounds. All our usual stalls will be there together with some new and fun stalls. So don’t forget to keep the afternoon free, all are welcome, there’s something there for everyone with wonderful displays of Irish Dancing and Kempo throughout the day. - Hope to see you there.

FAI Summer Soccer School

This fantastic event is again being held in Castle Villa’s Mullarney Park this year, with confirmed dates of July 16th to 20th. Check out our page on facebook for more information.

Kildare u/15 team

Well done to Aaron Murphy, Eoghan Farrell and the Kildare under 15 team who beat Dublin and Wexford in the Leinster championship

Dinner dance

The GAA dinner dance will take place on Saturday 28th April in the Seven Oaks hotel at 8.30pm sharp. Tickets cost €25 and are available from any committee member. Medal presentations to club winning teams will take place on the night. Please support.

U/14 fundraiser

The juvenile committee and Feile committee would like to thank Peter Behan for the use of the car wash on Easter Saturday for a fundraiser for the under 14s. Castledermot had the cleanest cars in the county for Easter. A special thanks to Sheehy’s of Carlow who sponsored the detergents for the day. The committee would like to thank everyone who helped on the day and everyone who supported the car wash.

GAA lotto

There was no winner of the GAA Lotto on Tuesday 10th April. The drawn numbers were 8, 14, 23 and 26. Foróige club

Levitstown new Foroige club will run on Friday evenings from 7.30 to 9pm in Levitstown Community Centre. The club is open to all Young People from twelve to eighteen years of age from the Levitstown, Ballyroe, Kilkee, Castledermot, Moone, Timolin and surrounding areas. Jan Maher, Local Librarian reminds us The Library will be closed for one day on Wednesday April 18, due to staff training. The library would also like to hear from anyone who would like to get involved in the Book Club, which we are hoping to relaunch soon, so if it’s something that would interest you, call into the library during opening hours , or you can ring 0599144483 at any time and leave a message on the voicemail leaving your name and contact number, and we’ll get back

The next meeting of the local History Group will take place on tuesday April 24 in the Community Centre at 8pm. Talk - Intelligence activities during the War of Independence in Co. Kildare by Local Historian Seamus Cullen. All welcome.


Tir na nOG Parent Toddler Group meet in Scoil Diarmada, on Wednesday mornings 9.30am until 11.45am. Parents and carers with pre-school children meet for play and to socialise in a friendly atmosphere. Only €2 per family. All welcome.


Diseart Diarmada Young at Hearts Club meet every Monday and thursday from 2pm to 4pm in the Community Centre. All welcome to come along along and enjoy a chat, a cup of tea, and a game of bingo.
