Caragh History Group

Caragh History Group will present a lecture on The Clongorey Evictions by Mary Ryan , BSc, MA in the Caragh Parish Centre on Friday, June 15 at

An interesting night of history, of particular interest to newcomers to the parish, is guaranteed.

There will be no admission charge and light refreshments will be served and all are very welcome.

Caragh GAA Cul Camp

The 2012 Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp in Caragh GFC, Prosperous runs from Tuesday August 6 to Friday August 10. This is the week after the bank holiday and so is a 4 day camp.

The Cúl Camp provides boys and girls, between the ages of 6 and 13, with an action-packed and fun-filled week of activity during the summer holidays which revolves around maximising enjoyment and sustaining participant involvement in Gaelic Games.

Prices: €50 first child (note Cúl Camp website says €55 but price should be €50 for a 4 day camp - there will be a €5 refund on the day for those booked online) €45 2nd child. €40 3rd and 4th child. Each child receives a Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp Kit and Kit Bag.

Parents are encouraged to book online because a further €5 discount token from promotional packs of Corn Flakes and Rice Krispies can only be claimed online.

Further details and online booking at: IFC Draw: Caragh have been drawn to play Championship favourites Johnstownbridge in the next round of the Intermediate Championship.

This will be a serious test for Mark Shaw’s team. JTB are performing very well in SFL Div 1 and they will certainly fancy their chances. However, Caragh have already surprised a number of teams this season and they will relish their under-dog status.

This game is not expected to take place until after Kildare win the All Ireland (here’s hoping!).

Caragh play Kill away this Sun June 10 at 3pm in Rd 9 of SFL Div 2.

Parks Tennis

Parks Tennis will take place again this year from July 2nd to July 27th at Prosperous Tennis Club. Registration will take place on Saturday June 16 from 2 - 4pm.

The cost for the four weeks is €30 and this includes coaching for one hour per day Mon to Fri for 4wks. Children age 6yrs and older can apply.

Christy’s Golf Society

Next outing the 16th June at Knockanally Golf Club at 9am. Visitors are always welcome. This outing will be sponsored by JBL Construction Prosperous.

Dog Licenses

County Dog Wardens will be conducting door to door Dog Licence checks in the Clane area for June and July.

Wardens use a computer data base to locate unlicensed dogs. On the spot fines can be issued to owners or people in charge of unlicensed dogs.

They will also be doing checks regarding dog control issues. Owners of Restricted Breeds need to be aware of the extra laws regarding their dogs which is dictated by Control of Dogs act and are also subject to fines for breaches of the legislation. License are available from any Post Office and cost €20

Prosperous Pitch & Putt Club

By popular demand weekday evening playing time will be at 8pm on Mondays. Also at 3.15pm on Tuesdays & Fridays & 6.30pm on Sundays.

Service Of Remembrance

Downing’s Graveyard Service of Remembrance will take place on Friday June 15 at 7.30pm. All are welcome.

Employability Kildare

If you have been out of work through illness, injury or disability and you are looking to get back to work, we may be able to help you. An employability job coach will be available to meet you in the obair office behind the Maxol garage on the Kilcullen road, Naas on Friday mornings between 10 am and 1pm.

Hillbilly Festival

The Wee Amigo’s, the brilliant new country band will be appearing in Poulaphouca House on Friday June 22. Show begins at 7.30pm and tickets at the door are €5. A night not to be missed.
