Table quiz and auction

On Friday night, June 15, the annual South Kildare Active Retired Table Quiz will be held in O’Brien’s Lounge, Timolin at 8.30 pm. It is conjunction with The Moone Kilomarathon and both events combine in aid of Crumlin Childrens’ Hospital. Table of 4 is €40 on the night. There will be cash prizes for winners and runners-up, a raffle for a host of prizes and an auction including an oil painting, sheep or cattle drench, lady’s handbag, car seat covers, tool bag and various vouchers. There is still time to donate something for the auction - contact Tony on 0872645882. Alternatively leave your gifts in to Paddy O’Brien’s or Moone Post Office. This Active Retired Association covers South Kildare from Kilcullen to Castledermot and ‘all stations in between’.

The next meeting will be in Molly O’Looney’s, Narraghmore on Thursday June 28 (the last Thursday of the month) at 8pm.


Indoor bowls commenced in Moone and will be held every Tuesday from 3 to 5 pm. Tutor is Muriel Hendy assisted by Jim Cullen. The local Retired express sincere thanks to Navan and Baltinglass A.R.I’s who donated a lot of the equipment to get this new event off the ground. See you there next Tuesday, beginners welcome!

Fit for life

This is an Exercise Class especially geared towards our older citizens. It means you can exercise without the strain of gym and weights. The Fit for Life team come down from Dublin every Wednesday morning to Moone Hall at 11.30 am and the session lasts an hour. It is a mixed class, men and women, mostly over 55 who belong to S.K.A.R.I. You can join any morning at the Fit for Life class or Tuesday afternoon at Bowls or at Molly’s and then you can take part in all the South Kildare Active Retired activities. The annual membership is only €15 and you just pay separately for social meetings and whatever activities suit you best.

Inter church couple services

An ecumenical service for inter church couples services will take place in Bolton Abbey on Wednesday June 20 at 7.30pm. This service is primarily for inter church couples but everyone is most welcome to attend.

Table quiz

Castledermot & Kinneagh Parish BBQ will not take place on June 16 as previously advertised. Castledermot and Kinneagh parish are now organising a Table Quiz on July 13 in the Castle Inn pub, in Castledermot at 9pm. Why not organise a table of family and friends, a table of four will cost forty euro. There will be a raffle on the night. If you require further information or have items to donate as prizes for the raffle please get in touch with Hazel Colbourne.

Blessing of pets service

On Sunday June 24 there will be a Blessing of Pets Service in Timolin at 11.30am. Why not bring your pets along to be blessed which will take place outside (weather permitting) or in the hall (if raining).

Walking group

The Walking Group meets on Monday and Wednesday evenings at the High Cross Inn at 8pm. Participants are invited to donate one euro a night in support of St Brigid’s Hospice Kildare.

Grangenolving GFC

Only four more days to get your Grangenolvin GFC members draw ticket. 1st prize €1,000, 2nd prize €500, 3rd prize €200 two €100 prizes and two €50 prizes. Draw will take place in the club house on Saturday June 16 at 9:30pm. Tickets €10 each contact Helena on 0857318747. Tickets can be bought at under age training on Saturdays 11am to 12 noon.

Training for Adult men continues on Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm. New members welcome.

Women’s group

The Grange walking/exercise group has generated great interest. People have been turning out in good numbers. For information regarding same please contact Sabrina Dooley on 087/3220792.
