Open Day and Business Fair
The Mill Community Centre will be hosting its annual Open Day and Small Business Fair on April 1 this year from 11am-5pm. On view will be dozens of stands featuring local business enterprise, crafts, health and holistic products. There will be a free magic show at 2pm, bouncy castle and face painting for children. Teas and coffees with snacks will be available throughout the day. Stands are still available. Contact the Centre manager at 6288556. This year’s prizes for those who took part in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the town will be awarded on Thursday March 29 in the Castletown Inn starting at 8pm. Everyone is invited to come along and enjoy the Craic.
Kildare Comhaltas Ceoltoirí Éireann will be hosting the annual Ceardlann Earraigh on Saturday March 31. This is a one-day workshop of master classes in traditional Irish music, song and dance. The workshops will take place in Scoil na Mainistreach in Celbridge. The day will conclude with a concert in the Glenroyal Hotel on the same evening. The fee for the workshops is €20, which allows free entry for junior participants to the concluding concert at 8pm.Workshops must be booked in advance. Le Chéile is looking for volunteers in County Kildare to work as mentors with young people or their parents. Le Chéile is a child-centred, not-for-profit organisation which recruits and trains volunteers from local communities to work with young people and their families. The young people are to some level involved in the justice system. Mentors come from all walks of life and often have no previous experience, just a genuine interest in working with people. An Art Group meets in the Wellspring Centre on the Main Street each Monday from 10am- 12 noon. The Wellsprings Centre is run by the Sisters of the Holy Faith.
The local Insight Theatre Group will perform “The Field” by John B. Keane in O’Connor’s Kildrought Lounge, Celbridge from March 28 to the 31 at 8pm each evening. Castletown House open
Castletown House and The Courtyard Cafe recently re-opened for the 2012 season. The visitor reception is open between 10am and 5pm, Tuesday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays. The Castletown parklands are open to enjoy and explore during daylight hours throughout the year.
The Castletown Markets and Craft Fairs will take place in the recently restored Stable Wing and Courtyard on the last Sunday of the Month between May and October from 11am-5pm. The first market will be on Sunday May 27.

Urgent help needed
The Ballymakeally Youth Club is a group of young people between the ages of 9 and 16 years with a fantastic club, but at present they are in urgent need of leaders / volunteers. If you feel you have any skills or talents that you could bring to this group they would love to hear from you. Sponsor a race
Celbridge Athletic Club is holding its 5K road race on August 12 this year at 10.30am in Castletown House. In order to make the race a success the club are asking for sponsorship to support the race, be it financial or a product that can be given out after the race (fruit, drink or energy bars etc) nothing is too small. Here’s your opportunity to get rid of your unwanted household goods, furniture and electrical items free of charge. Celbridge Town AFC is making a collection at their St. Patrick’s Park Grounds on Saturday March 31 from 9.30am-4.30pm. So, spring clean that attic or garden shed. The Legion of Mary Patrician group will be holding a discussion on the theme “What is Easter Sunday all about?” in the meeting room in St Patrick’s Church on the Main Street at 8pm on Friday March 30.
If you would like to try a new sport, why not drop down to the Celbridge Tennis Club on the Hazelhatch Road. There will be free coaching sessions there for young people on Saturday March 31. The time slots are 1-2pm for those who are 5-8 years old and 2-3pm for older children 9-12 years old. The club is also hosting two Easter Camps from April 2-5 (4 days) and April 10-12 (3days) from 10.30am-1pm each day. The Bethany Bereavement Support Group has been established to help those who are bereaved or grieving. It offers one-to-one support, or group support and home visits. GAA Easter Camps
Celbridge GAA has an Easter Camp coming up which will be ideal for children who have an interest in Hurling, Camogie or Football. The Hurling/Camogie Camp is from Monday April 2 to Thursday April 5 from 10am-2pm each day. The Football Camp (for girls and boys) runs from Tuesday March 10 to Friday 13 from 10am-2pm. The cost is E45 per week, per camp. A discount is available for attendance at both camps or for a second child attending either camp. Application forms are available form the GAA Club (after 7.30pm) or from Lynch’s shop in the Main Street.
North Star Club
Volunteers are urgent needed to support people with disabilities at the North Star Club which meets at the swimming pool at St. Raphael’s on the Clane Road each Sunday from 2.30-4pm. This volunteer activity is suitable for the Gaisce Award. Call Valerie at 086-3612855.
