A call has been made for repairs to be carreid to the footbridge on the east side of Kill village. Cllr. Fintan Brett told a Kildare County Council meeting that the anti-slip surface on the bridge as risen and “is a trip hazard.”

However the council has passed the matter over to the National Roads Authority along with a request for the NRA to do the work. “Repairs to bridges, including footbridges, is a function of the NRA,” the council replied.

Rochford Manor estate

The issue of Kildare County Council taking in charge the Rochford Manor estate was raised at a council meeting. According to Kildare County Council some “minor remedial works” are required and these have not been completed by the developer. The issue will come up again at the next meeting of Kildare County Council.

Kill GAA briefs

Well done to the minors who defeated St Kevins in round 7 of the minor league. This result has guaranteed the team a place in the semi-final of the league. The seniors recorded a win in their first game of the league, defeating Milltown. This victory sets the lads up well for the coming games and hopefully can see the team push for promotion.

Healing mass

A healing mass with anointing of the sick will be held on Wednesday April 4 at 3pm in Kill Church. All are welcome.

Penitential service

A Penitential Service will be held in Kill tonight, Tuesday, April 3, at 8pm. A number of visiting priests will be present. Please come and make it a memorable celebration as we prepare for Easter.

Holy Thursday

In Kill Church after evening Mass you are invited to spend half an hour before the Altar of Repose. The times allocated for each area of the parish are listed in the Holy Week booklet. The church will be open until 10.30pm.

Friends of Naas Hospital

The annual general meeting of the Friends of Naas Hospital will take place in the hospital on Wednesday April 4 at 5pm. New members would be very welcome.

Naas Easter parade

Don’t miss the Naas Easter Parade which takes place on Easter Sunday.

Starting from the Blessington Road at 2.45pm, the parade comes up past the old Tesco store, turns left and up through the town. The review stand will be at the Court House and the prize giving ceremony will take place after the parade in the Osprey Hotel. There will be lots of fun for all the family including four marching bands, displays from community groups, sport groups, local business, Irish dancers, gymnastics, vintage cars, and steam engines. The annual parade is usually watched by thousands of people and is a great family occasion.

Naas Special Olympics Club established in 2008 invites you to come join their club. Serving all areas in Kildare, it is a sports club for people with intellectual disabilities.
