Athy Scouts – Operation Tent-the-Nation
Seven Scouts from the 5th Kildare (Athy) Scout Group have accepted an unusual challenge, Operation Tent-the-Nation, Code Name: 1-24-26. This challenge involves 7 Scouters driving to each of the 26 counties in the Republic of Ireland and pitching a tent in each of the 26 counties in 24 hours. From this challenge, they hope to raise enough money, not only to buy an AED for our Scout Den, but we hope to be able to purchase one for a Scout group in each of the 32 counties in the Republic of Ireland.
To achieve this, they need all the support and publicity available to us. The date of the challenge will be the 17th and 18th of August. They will start in Bundoran in Co. Donegal at 7pm and finish in their home town, Athy the following evening at, approximately, 7pm.
They have set up a text donation service and are also looking to businesses to donate money, food, fuel, publicity and all the other things that they need to complete the challenge. If you can help in any way, please contact at 086 8521719 or firstname.lastname@example.org. The challenge was launched on Sunday, 27th May.
Their quest is to raise 1000’s of euros and save 100’s of lives. They also want to have a big reception when they arrive back in Athy with the whole community coming together to toast their success.
