Cycling from Cork to Donegal
Well-known Cyclists Brendan McAuliffe and Tony Maher will be taking part in the Big Red Bike Ride from Mizen Head to Malin Head from 9th – 15th June. The two men hope to raise much needed funds for Irish Autism.
To be eligible to participate in the event, the two men must raise a total of €1,600. In order to raise this money, they have organised a number of events which will be taking place over the next few weeks, so watch out for their sponsorship cards at various outlets in the town.
Garda Station Opening Times
Edenderry Garda Station will be open to the public at the following times;
Monday – Saturday 2pm – 5pm; Sundays 11am – 1pm;
Tuesdays & Thursdays from 8.30pm – 10pm.
There are still a few seats available for the 40th Anniversary Lourdes Pilgrimage which takes place on 24th July. People who have already booked their tickets should pay the full amount as soon as possible.

Music & Dancing Classes
Traditional Music Classes takes place at the Boys National School on Tuesday evenings. A wide range of musical instruments are catered for in the classes including Tin Whistle, Flute, Accordion, Mandolin, Banjo, Fiddle and Concertina.
Set Dancing Classes takes place on Thursdays nights at the Boys National School. New members are always welcome.

The Edenderry Scouts and Cubs Groups are currently looking for Boys and Girls to join. The age group for the Cubs is 9 – 11 years and the Scouts is 12 – 15 years.
The Groups meet on a weekly basis at the Parish Centre. The times are; Cubs 6.30pm – 7.30pm; Scouts 7.45pm – 9pm. If you wish to contact the Scout Leaders please phone 085-7052517.
Outing to Cavan Crystal Hotel
The members of Edenderry Historical Society will be going on their Annual Outing to The Cavan Crystal Hotel, Cavan from Friday, 4th May - Sunday, 7th May. All are welcome.

Volunteer for KARE?

The newly formed Cycling Club in Edenderry are still seeking new members to join their club. The cyclists meet up every Sunday morning for a round trip of about 10 – 15 miles. They meet at the Canal Harbour at 8.30am.
Currently they are trying to attract as many cyclists as possible into their club.
If you are thinking of joining the club you must have a suitable bicycle and gear, such as helmet, rainwear and gloves.

The Minister for Education Mr. Ruairi Quinn has announced a new school building programme which will see the establishment of two new schools in Edenderry in 2013. In 2014 an extension will be built to Oaklands Community College. It is hoped that the construction work will give badly needed employment in the town.
The National Council for the Blind of Ireland are looking for Women to take part in this year’s Mini Marathon which takes place on Monday, 4th June.
Participants will receive a National Council for the Blind of Ireland T-Shirt and Sun-Visor.

Evening of prayer
An evening of quiet personal prayer and reflection takes place at 49 Blundell Wood every Tuesday at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome to come along.
