A unique music festival will be taking place in Ballyknockan over the May Bank Holiday weekend. It will consist of musicians or bands formed by musicians solely from the area. It will include sessions from new bands in their teens and twenties to the well established bands that are well known to us all-Upload, SOS, Entourage, The Whole Hog to mention just a few. There could be an appearance, after their stint on Nationwide by Glyder and After Dark who have known to rock the night away at venues all over Ireland. On the Sunday the Hillbilly Festival Queen will be selected from the multitude of ladies who will be keen to preside over the preparations for this year’s Tractor Run on June 24th. Music that night will be by Entourage and all proceeds will go to the Hillbilly Fund for Crumlin Hospital and the local causes. More information can be got from Ben D’Alton at 0879403049.
The Blessington Millennium Choir has just returned from a four day visit to Bormes Les Mimosas in the South of France where they received a very warm welcome. The village of Bormes in Provence is renowned for its flowers especially the mimosa tree which blooms in March. The choir gave a concert on the Friday consisting of The Mass of St Cecilia by French composer Charles Gounod followed by a selection of Irish songs such as Galway Bay, My Lagan Love, The Kerry Dance and Mo Ghile Mear. The audience were most appreciative and after the concert many expressed a desire to visit Ireland. On Palm Sunday the choir was invited to sing most of the Gounod Mass during the Palm Sunday Liturgy in the beautiful church of Saint-Trophyme in Bormes. After mass the Parish Priest Pere Lopez commented that on a recent visit to Rome he had heard the Sistine Chapel Choir and in his opinion the Millennium Choir were much better which was quite a compliment. So well done to all the members.

Once again the top prize was not won and only three lucky punters managed to match even three numbers. They each received €100. The winning numbers drawn on the night were13, 18, 22 and 24. Tickets priced at only €2 are already on sale at the usual local outlets or from a committee member for the club’s next Lotto Draw which will have another new jackpot which will be standing at €6, 000. The draw will take place this Tuesday April 24. The club urge members and supporters to purchase tickets and also ask them to encourage friends and relatives to do the same. The recent sales have been excellent and the club really appreciate it. This is the club’s main fundraiser during the year and a lot of time and effort is put into making it a success. Remember if you get the numbers right on the night you will be winning the jackpot which no doubt would come in very handy at this time of the year.
