Naas, Kildare man fondly remembered as an 'absolute gent'

A Naas, Co Kildare man has been fondly remembered as 'an absolute gent'

Agustine (Gus) Finerty, Naas, Co Kildare and formerly of Ballinlough and Capwell Road, Cork, passed on June 27 2025, peacefully at Larchfield Park Nursing Home.

Agustine (Gus), loving husband of the late Pearl (née Canny) and beloved father of Marc and Ruth.

Sadly missed by his family, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at the Temple Hill Funeral Home, Boreenmanna Road of Jerh. O’Connor Ltd. on Tuesday (July 1st) from 5.00pm to 6.00pm.

Requiem Mass at 11.00am on Wednesday (July 2nd) in the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Ballinlough.

Funeral afterwards to St. Michael’s Cemetery, Blackrock.

Donations in lieu of flowers to an animal charity of your choice.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam”

Tributes paid on RIP.ie include: “Deepest Condolence Marc and Ruth on the loss of your lovely Dad. He was a absolute gent and the best neighbour you could ever ask for. He will be sorely missed by everyone in Monread. Rest in peace Gus.”

And: “Our deepest sympathy to Marc & Ruth. Your dad was a fantastic neighbour to have and his Victor Meldrew wit will be missed. The battle of the funniest cards will be no more. He is with your lovely mum in a happy place. RIP Gus x”

While another mourner wrote: “Sincere condolences on the loss of your dad Gus. He was a wonderful neighbour with a gentle presence.He would always stop for a chat with young and old alike. Gus will be missed. Our thoughts are with you at this sad time. The Malone Family, Naas.”

And another added: “There are no words for the loss of a parent. I know this is going to leave a huge hole in your life Ruth. Your Dad was so lovely and I always think of his jolliness and how lovely he was to Lena & Adam. And while he will be sadly missed I’m sure he’s happy to finally be reunited with your Mum.”
