Heartfelt tributes have poured in for a Kildare lady who has been remembered as being a “lovely person” and a “true, generous friend.”
Maria Ann Byrne, Huizen, the Netherlands and formerly of Rathangan, Co Kildare and Cahir, Tipperary, passed on December 1 2024.
Daughter of the late Andy Byrne, Main Street, Rathangan, she will be very sadly missed by her loving mother Anna (nee McGrath, formerly of Bengurragh, Cahir), sister Bernadette, brother-in-law Michel, nephews and nieces, Olivier, Raphaël, Pierre, Marie and Loan, grand nephews, aunt, uncle, cousins and many friends.
The interment of Maria’s ashes will take place after 11am Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Cahir on Saturday April 5 in the adjoining cemetery.
Maria’s beautiful spirit and generous heart will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Tributes paid to Maria Ann on RIP.ie this week included: “Sincere sympathy to Anne Bernadette and family on the sudden passing of Maria. Beautiful memories of growing up together on Main Street.”
And: “Sincere condolences to Anna, Bernadette and the extended Byrne and McGrath families on the passing of Maria. May she rest in eternal peace.”
While another mourner wrote: “Sincere condolences to Anna, Bernadette and the extended Byrne and McGrath families on the passing of Maria. May she rest in eternal peace.”
And another added: “My sincere condolences to Anna, Bernadette and her family. Maria is very much missed, she was a true, generous friend to me. Rest gentle my dear friend.”
