A Kildare woman has been fondly remembered as being 'a great neighbour and friend.'
Marie O'Shea (née Rankin), Leixlip, Co Kildare and formerly of Lucan, Co Dublin passed on March 25 2025, (peacefully) in the loving care of the staff at St. Brigid’s Hospice, The Curragh.
Marie, beloved wife of Robbie and much loved mother of Edel and Peter.
Predeceased by her brothers Anthony and David. Sadly missed by her loving family, grandchildren Daniel, Leah and Emily, brothers Martin, Micheal, Noel, Raphael and Gerard, daughter-in-law Anne-Marie, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
May she rest in peace.
Tributes paid to Marie this week on RIP.ie included: “We are so sorry to hear that Marie has died. She was a great neighbour and friend. A lovely lady. Sincere sympathy to Robbie, Edel Peter and extended O'Shea and Rankin families. May she rest in peace.”
And: “Condolences to Robbie, Edel, Peter & the all extended family on the sad passing of Marie, she was a wonderful Lady, thoughts and prayers to you all at this very difficult time. May Marie Rest in Eternal Peace.”
While another mourner wrote: “Our deepest sympathy to Robbie, Edel, Peter and all the O'Shea & Rankin Family. Rest in peace Marie.”
And another added: “We’re so sorry to hear of Marie’s passing. We got to know Marie through her granddaughter Emily’s friendship with our daughter Phoebe. We enjoyed talking to her at pick up time or when the girls played together in Castletown. She was a lovely lady. We’ll be thinking of all the family at this difficult time.”
Reposing at Cunningham’s Funeral Home, Celbridge on Thursday evening (March 27) between 5 pm and 7 pm.
Removal on Friday morning (March 28) to the Church of Our Lady’s Nativity, Leixlip, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am followed by Cremation in Newlands Cross Crematorium.
