Man hospitalised following serious assault on Kildare border
A second man, aged in his 40s, was arrested by Gardaí
A man has been hospitalised and a second man was arrested following a serious assault on the Kildare-Laois border this morning.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses in relation to the serious assault on Main Street, Portarlington on Sunday, June 7 at around 1.15am.
A man who is aged in his 60s was conveyed to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. It’s understood the injured man is from Portarlington.
A second man, aged in his 40s, was arrested by Gardaí and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in a Garda Station in Laois.
“Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information in relation to this incident or who may have video footage (including dash-cam) who were in the area of Main Street, Portarlington, Co. Laois between 12:45am and 1:30am on Sunday 7th June 2026,” the said in a statement.
