Calls have been made for an electric charge point for motor vehicles to be installed at Main Street, Newbridge.
Cllr. Fiona O’Loughlin told the Kildare Area Committee meeting on March 14 that the current charge point at the train station was not sufficient. “I think we should have one point on the main street in Newbridge,” said the councillor.
“It can take half an hour to get from one side of the town to the train station,” she said.
She said the electric car is “the way forward” and is very economical . Because of their small size, she stressed they are easy to park.
She said the council should liaise with the ESB and encourage people to be going down the road of buying an electric car in the future.
Cllr. Spike Nolan supported the motion.
