Allenwood Church marks Reopening with a Concert

A concert on Thursday 29th November marks the reopening of the church of the Immaculate Conception in Allenwood. Three years of development, hard work and dedication from community members throughout the parish, December 8th will see the official reopening of the church. The concert will feature Fr. Liam Lawton, Allenwood Church and School Choirs, Monasterevin Gospel Choir, Kildare Local Authorities Choir and Co. Kildare Chamber Orchestra, Herbert Lodge Singers and Monasterevin Ceili Band. Admission is €20.

Tickets available from local shops, post offices and you can also contact Allen Parish at 860135 for more details. The Allenwood Church Renovation Committee would like to thank the generous response from the local community, from the GAA and John Glennon for hosting church services while the work was taking place, to the many individuals and groups who have donated both time and money to the project. With an initial budget of €100,000, the committee have worked consistently over the last three years, and are delighted with how things have developed to date. The committee would also like to thank Fr. Moore for his continued hard work and dedication on the project.

Milltown GFC AGM

AGM: The Club’s AGM will take place in the clubrooms on Saturday 24 November at 7.30pm. Nominations for all positions to be with Joan Cash by Saturday 17 November. Calling all underage Players: As part of the club’s 125 celebrations next year, the club are running a Logo Design Competition for 4th, 5th and 6th class. The winning design will be the club’s logo for all our 125 celebrations. Full details available from Mr. Hartnett in the school. For younger players, there is an Art Competition too. This is a great chance for our underage players to be a part of our celebrations for 2013. Welcome home Warren: It’s great to see one of our players, Kevin Dowling, back on home ground for a while. Kevin has been in Canada in recent months and hopes to head off again on his travels soon. Mass for Deceased Members:

The club’s annual mass for deceased members will take place in Milltown Church on Sunday November 25 at 9.30am.

Well done to the Na Fianna U21 team on their Championship win over Suncroft on Saturday November 3rd by the time you read this they will have played St Kevins in the next round which is the semi-final of the competition. Congratulations to the Na Fianna ladies U15 team who won their final recently in Hawkfield by the narrowest of margins. Well done to all involved. Congratulations to Tommy Maher who won the Leinster final with Kildare U16s on Wednesday November 7th beating Dublin by a single point. A huge thanks to our host of Deal or No Deal, Dag Kelly, who gave all a great nights entertainment in the clubhouse recently. There will be an underage disco in Allenwood Friday November 23rd this will be a UV disco and also Friday December 21st will be the Christmas disco. Bingo in Allenwood every Wednesday. All welcome.
