Sarsfields GAA Club held an inaugural primary inter-schools football tournament last Friday afternoon in Sarsfields Park with St Conleth’s and Mary scooping first ever Dermot Earley Academy cup 2012.
Each primary school in Newbridge was invited to attend and teams from St. Conleth’s and Mary, Scoil Naomh Uilig, Patrician Primary, Educate Together, Gael Scoil and St. Patricks all competed for the inaugural Dermot Earley Academy Cup sponsored by Sarsfields Chairman, Pat Black.
As it happened the strength in depth of St Conleth’s and Mary under the management of Stephen O’Brien ensured victory prevailed and for their proud captain Tadgh Howey to receive the Dermot Earley Academy cup from Sarsfields Kildare footballer Gary White. Commiserations to Joe O’Connor and his gallant St Patrick’s team on an excellent performance throughout the final game. Patrician under the management of John O’Donovan played out a draw against the Gael Scoil managed by Sean de Paor to share joint 3rd, while Educate Together received a walk over against Naomh Uilig due to prior commitments.
