LOCAL shop keeper Aidan Murphy closed the News and Food store in Highfield for the last time in 24 years on Sunday of last week. And the first thing Aidan is looking forward to is a weekend off.
“I ran the place for 24 years,” he said. “I’m tired and I just want to get a few weekends off to be honest. I am feeling nervous about the future with out the shop but that is life. I am going to spend more time with my family and I won’t have to get up at 6.30am anymore.”
“I would like to thank everyone,” he said. “All my customers - a lot of them have become more like friends and family at this stage. I would also like to thank my family who helped out over the years. I have some great memories and will now pass the shop over to someone else.”
