Long time Leixlip parish priest, Fr. Michael Hurley, is expecting to have to move from his north Kildare parish this year. While no official announcement has been made by the diocesan authorities, Cork born Fr. Hurley is expected to leave because his nine year spell in the parish of Our Lady’s Nativity is now up.

“It has been a fast nine years. It has been good,” said Fr. Hurley.

The well-liked parish priest at the parish of Our Lady’s Nativity said there has been plenty of activity in Leixlip.

Will he be sad to leave? “Oh God. Sad is too easy a word. It will create quite a wrench,” he said on 23 May. Any move to another post will be within the Dublin diocese.
