FRIENDS Lana McDonald and Aoife Caulfield took part in the opening ceremony of the UEFA Cup Final in the Aviva Stadium on May 18.

The St. Mary’s College students are pictured above holding the flags of participating teams Braga and FC Porto team flags.

“We both had to carry flags out onto the pitch while marching with them in a routine. We practiced for five days in the run up to the match with at least 50 other people from around the country, “ said Lana.

She added: “Being the only girls from Naas taking part in the ceremony, we were honored to have a role in this rare occasion.”

Aoife is from Oldtown Lawns and Lana lives in Sundays Well.
