Veritas publish Prosperous Author
Veritas Publications have just released a new book, offering a first-hand look at ten new Catholic movements present in Ireland today. Written by well-known family, social and religious affairs journalist, Susan Gately, the book is entitled God’s Surprise: The New Movements in the Church. As we enter the ‘Year of Faith’, this book is a timely look at the new movements operating in Ireland today. Unlike other books written about the Ecclesial movements, it is based on the lived experiences of the members of these groups. Susan Gately wrote this book with the hope that it would appeal to people who have recently become disillusioned with the Church. She hopes that they will be encouraged to seek out one of these new, vibrant communities, and can find a place for themselves in a renewed Church. Susan Gately is a freelance journalist living in Prosperous, Kildare, specialising in social, family and religious affairs. A former solicitor, she gave up law to study journalism and spent five years as editor of ciNews and is now a contributor. She also writes for a number of newspapers, including the Irish Independent, Irish Catholic and the Universe, and does multi-media reports for the Washington DC based, Catholic News Service.
