These are active times these days for parents at St Paul’s Secondary School, Monasterevin with many choosing the wise path of further education.
The Adult Education Programme at the school continues to expand with the levels of participants up almost 100 percent on the figures for 2009 /2010 .
These courses are funded by Co Kildare VEC Adult Education Dept and organised through the Home School Community Liaison Scheme under coordinator Paul Marron. There are presently three different courses on Computer Skills leading to FETAC Qualifications being offered in St. Paul’s School. Recently a large group of parents completed a course titled ‘Helping Your Child With Their Maths Homework’ facilitated by maths teacher Niall Mc Guillicuddy.
Another group have just completed a ‘Food and Healthy Eating’ Course which was run in conjuntion with Mountmellick Development Association and funded by Community Education Co Kildare VEC.
The ‘Maths For Fun’ programme sees parents helping teachers, in the classroom, to make Maths a fun activity for the 1st Year students of the school.
A group of 10 parents experienced life in the classroom over a 5 week programme with a final day celebration being held in the school on Wednesday February 16 .
This activity was funded by St. Paul’s Secondary School /Home School Community Liaison Scheme .
