Well done to Ashton Estate in Blessington who won 1st prize in the 2012 Blessington Tidy Estates Competition. The Estate received a Trophy donated by Super Value and a Garden Centre Voucher of E100

donated by the Tidy Towns Committee at a function in the Avon Ri Burgage. Ashton Estate also received an Environmental Award Certificate and a cheque for E100 in 2012 from Wicklow County Council

in the “Tidy Estates Winners” Category for the county of Wicklow. This is not their first time to receive a Wickow County Award.


The sudden death took place on Thursday January 10 of Catherine Balfe Woodend Blessington. Her remains were removed from her house on Saturday morning January 12 to St. Brigid’s Church Manor Kilbride for

requiem mass and her burial took place immediately afterwards in Manor Kilbride Cemetery. There was a large attendance at Catherine’s Funeral which was very fitting for a lovely lady who was well known and much loved in the Blessington and surrounding area and will be sadly missed

by all who were lucky enough to have known her.

Full time course in Community & Health Services

A full time FETAC Level 5 Momentum programme is being run by Co Wicklow VEC in Community and Health Services in the Blessington Further Education Centre beginning this spring. Having celebrated twenty years years in 2012 since the foundation of the society this year’s captain Tom Hennessy has booked some fantastic courses to play in 2013 that will test all golfers of the society. The first outing on March 9 will be to Athy G.C with the next outing to Tullamore G.C. in April The May bank holiday weekend away is to The

Plaza Hotel in Killarney playing Killeen and Mayony’s .Other outings will be to The K Club, Craddockstown G.C., Macreddin G.C, Tulfarris G.C., Grange Castle G.C. and Blessington Lakes G.C. . BYMDS Blessington Youth Musical & Dramatic Society is currently very busy rehearsing for their upcoming Musical “OKLAHOMA!” to be staged in the Tramway Theatre Blessington on Friday March 22 at 8pm, Saturday
