Cllr. Langan angry with state of the roads
All other Local Authorities are working as normal but Kildare County Council staff have been stopped from all road duties, even though they all do the same type of work. It’s ironic that a contractor, contracted by Kildare County Council is still working on the New Carbury to Enfield road, where temporary traffic lights are in constant use on the R.402 and up to about 30 ground staff working on a daily basis. The roads in the Carbury area are in an atrocious condition according to Cllr. Seamus Langan. He said “it’s a total disgrace to leave the roads with potholes everywhere and absolutely no maintenance taking place”. Cllr. Langan said, that “it’s going to be very difficult for the Council road staff to catch-up on the back-log of work, whenever they are allowed back to their normal duties”.
Late Reina Hynes
There was great sadness in Carbury on the death of Reina Hynes (née Ennis), Dreenane. Reina was a very quiet, inoffensive, person and was very popular with all her neighbours and friends. She was pre-deceased by her husband Peter. Deepest sympathy is extended to her sons, Peter, Brian and Brendan, sisters Moira and Vera, brother Brendan, daughters-in-law Val, Myra and Catherine, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. A large crowd attended her funeral Mass on Thursday last to the Church of the Holy Trinity, Derrinturn and her burial in the adjoining cemetery. May She Rest In Peace.
Clothes and Mobile Phone Collection
The pupils of Killina School are holding a Clothes and Mobile Phone Collection on Monday, 11th February. They would be delighted to accept new and used men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, shoes, belts, handbags, ties, linens, household textiles, stuffed toys and old mobile phones. Items can be dropped at the school from Thursday 7th February.
The pupils at Ticknevin National School have been very busy recently manufacturing St. Brigid’s Crosses. This is a tradition that has been carried out at the School down through the years, where the pupils gather rushes and weave them into crosses. The children sell the crosses and the money goes towards the upkeep of the School.
