There is now a chink of hope that the speed ramps in Staplestown may be fixed.
At the July meeting of Clane Electoral Area Committee meeting, council officials ruled out the possibility saying it would not happen in 2012.
That was despite agreement by all sides on the need to repair or replace the speed ramps in the village.
The ramps have been deteriorating over the past few months, with the red brick-type material coming away every time they’re hit by any vehicles.
However in a response to a query from Cllr. Brendan Weld at last Tuesday’s meeting of the same committee, council officials explained that there are a number of ramps in need of repair in the Clane Area “and the Area Office will address them if there is an under spend on any of the committed projects”.
Ramps made of similar material elsewhere have been replaced with a more durable material, such as at the Post Office in nearby Prosperous.
