It’s been reported that a deal has been struck to finalise the situation over the Day Care Centre in Derrinturn.
At a meeting of Clane Electoral Area Committee, council officials explained that the matter is currently going through the legal process and that legal teams for both had been in contact with each other.
At the last meeting of the committee, Cllr. Seamus Langan had slammed what he believed wass the neglect of the most vulnerable people in society.
A building that is currently being used as a day-care centre for elderly people in Derrinturn is due to be demolished to make way for the new R402 road between Enderry and Enfield.
He asked for a report on the negotiations and wondered why the council had to CPO
two buildings when only one was required?
“Carbury Day Care senior citizens will be homeless after 32 years there,” he said at the time.
In the July meeting officials said didn’t want to discuss the matter . “Negotiations in respect of the CPO are still ongoing and remain commercially sensitive,” they said,
“Those people (the senior citizens) get it very hard to accept it at this stage,” Cllr. Langan had said angrily.
“They are the most vulnerable people in our society. This is a terrible situation altogether.”
Now officials are saying that “once the legal process is concluded it is understood that this land deal will be completed.
“Funding is in place to pay for the agreed compensation between both parties.”
