Work on clearing drains to start

The next six weeks will see major work to clean drains in the Clane, Prosperous and Kilcock areas, according to Kildare County Council officials who were speaking at a meeting last Tuesday, of Clane Electoral Area Committee.

In response to a query from local councillor Brendan Weld, the officials explained that “during the next six weeks the Area Office intends to spend as much time as it can afford on the cleaning of drains and gullies”.

Cllr. Padraig McEvoy asked if it would be possible to get a “sense of the annual costs associated with cleaning drains”, saying he believed it would be helpful.
