The newly revamped Foróige club in Kildare town is enjoying its reincarnation with a recent sponsored walk to raise funds for its activities.
Club organiser, Tony Boyle was delighted with the turnout on Sunday March 4.
“It was absolutely brilliant. The response was fantastic. We would like to thank our sponsors Starbucks, M.F. Tyres, Ross Rooney’s Fruit and Veg, Chris Ryan, Freddie Tully Cabs and the Kildare Red Cross Branch for their support. I would also like to thank all the people who donated money and turned out on Sunday to walk. Their support was much appreciated,” he said.
Tony also praised the Friary Church who allow the club the use of the hall where they meet every Friday from 7pm to 8.30pm. If anyone wants to join the club they can contact Tony on 085 1313119 or email email@example.com or simply come along to the hall on a Friday night. The club caters for 12 to 18 year olds. It has also volunteered to help the Tidy Town’s committee among its many activities.
“The club had disbanded and we wanted to start it up again,” said Tony, “We got a few people together and got it back up and running for the young people in Kildare. The enthusiasm is great. They have now designed their own hoodies and a new logo. Over the coming months we will be involved in lots of activities including a drugs awareness initiative.”
He praised the leaders for all their hard work and also Aras Bride for the use of their premises.
