Phase one of a €620,000 new playground planned for Castledermot will commence building this summer.
Athy local area councillors were informed of the plans for the long awaited play ground at this month’s meeting which was held in Castledermot on Monday, April 15, 2019.
The meeting heard that the play ground will have three phases and it will cost €650,000 in total to build. The first phase, at a cost of €220,000 will commence this summer.
It will be state-of-the-art and cater for all accessibility needs the meeting heard. It will accomodate children with special needs and each phase there after will cost a further €200,000.
The members all welcomed the news and paid tribute to the hard working playground committee whose ‘hard work has paid off’.
Members were also told that €50,000 of the Athy area’s LPT funds will go towards phase one.
