RTE to cover the parade in Monasterevin this St Patrick's Day

Times for this year's St Patrick's Day fun in Monasterevin

RTE will be in Monasterevin at parade doing a shout for the 6 o’clock news St Patrick’s evening.

The local St Patrick’s Day committee in a recent online post have described it as an opportunity to show case Monasterervin.

“This is an opportunity to show case our great town, let’s all make sure we put on one hell of a show. It is such fantastic news for our town. We are so chuffed as the committee to announce RTE are coming! Set your box to record now you won't want to miss it.”

The parade starts at 2 pm sharp this year.

All marching groups only to assemble at St Peter and Pauls church from 1.15pm. 

All vehicles and floats attending with marchers to assemble along the canal down by the train station from 1 pm. Please make sure all children are supervised at all times. 

This year there is a cash prize of €200 for the most creative float so get your thinking caps on guys. 

Please be advised there will be diversions in place on the day.

All activities after the parade will be held in the community centre from 3-5 some listed below but also include DJ, candyfloss, popcorn, mascots, bouncing castles. The cafe will also be open from 12-5 serving refreshments and treats in the community centre for refreshments before and after the parade.

There will also be a mini craft market on the day. Monasterevin ladies football club will hold a duck race at 4pm. Ducks are €2 and race will start at the aqueduct. Best of luck ladies.
