WATCH: pages from the Book of Kildare on display at Kildare town library next month

A sample of the Josephine Hardiman's work

The first twenty pages of the Book of Kildare, created by local artist and calligrapher Josephine Hardiman, will be on display in Kildare town library for the month of February starting on St Brigid's Day, February 1, 2019.

Take a look at the pages here and join the artist in Kildare Heritage Centre on February 1 from 10am to 5pm to view the latest pages to the book as it grows.

Josephine has written a colourful and vibrant series of hand painted works featuring traditional Celtic Calligraphy, stretching from ancient folklore to modern times which will be on display in the library until the end of February.

Her work is based on the orginal Book of Kildare, said to have been found at St Brigid's cathedral, and which historians believe may have been even more impressive than the Book of Kells.

The book was, however, lost but descriptions of it as far back as 1185 still remain.
