€300,000 to deliver a footpath in Nurney

Council to buy boarded up houses in Athy

Athy Council Office

A motion that the council put plans in place to deliver the footpath from the village of Nurney to the local football field was tabled at this month's meeting of the Athy Municipal District which was held on Monday, January 21.

The motion was tabled by Cllr Martin Miley, who explained that this would connect the village to the local activity centre of the community.

The meeting heard that there are no plans or resources in place at this present time to carry out this work.

The distance from Nurney Village to the football pitch is approximately 1km. To construct a standard footpath with lighting without land acquisition costs would be in the region of €300,000.

Members were told that this was a ball park figure.
