The CI Bar in Athy was fined €500 for serving alcohol on the premises without a late license at Athy District Court on Tuesday, October 23.

Twenty people were found drinking and playing pool on the premises on May 14, 2015 by gardai.

The defendant had an address listed in court as Scarletdale Limited, Nominee Tony Mc Cullough, The Castle Inn, 33 Leinster St, Athy. The court heard that gardai saw the people going into the bar around 12am when the premises should have been closed.

The court heard that the bar often has late licenses but did not have one on this occasion.

Judge Desmond Zaidan ordered that the €500 fine be paid in six months time by lump sum.
