€350 fine for Athy man who was agressive in public

An Athy man who pleaded guilty to threatening and abusive behavior at Athy District Court last Tuesday was fined €350

Neville Moriarty with and address listed as 17 Canal walk, Athy came to the attention of gardai on 17 January 2017 at Edmund Rice Square Athy after his younger brother had been knocked down by a car.

The court heard evidence from Garda Yvonne Duffy of Athy Garda Station who was called to the scene at 7.40pm.

"Nevile was highly aggressive to the owner of the vehicle," Gda Duffy said.

"He shouted obscenities at myself and the driver."

Gda Duffy described the accident as minor and said that the brother is okay now. The defendant has no previous convictions and has never been in trouble before. He apologised to the court for his over reaction.

Judge Desmond Zaidan said 'sure what good is losing your temper?'
