Bright new cafe opens its doors in Monasterevin

Botond Tarcsay and Andi Rampelt, and daughter Petra

A new cafe was opened on Saturday, September 1 last in Monasterevin beside the library aptly called Next to the Library Cafe.

The cafe is run by Andi Rampelt from Hungary with a little help from her husband Botond Tarcsay.

“I was working managing a cafe before and I always wanted to run my own,” said Andi.

“We felt that there was a market for it in the town. We came to have a look at this premises and my husband and I said ‘yes this is it’. It is in a great location beside the library.”

Great support

The couple are renting the premises and will open seven days a week including Sunday. They serve coffee, salads, sandwiches, and cakes as well as other savoury snacks.

“We can cater for parties and other events,” she added.

“We’ve had loads of customers already and the town is really supportive of us. “We called it Next to the Library Cafe as it is just next door and we liked the name.”

It will be open from 8am to 6pm daily.
