The pupils with their fundraiser cheque
Gaelscoil Átha in Athy had a slightly different way of showing love on Valentine's Day.
The school and it's teachers held a 'Lá Grá d'Uganda' (Love for Uganda Day) where children learned all about Uganda, including the life of a Ugandan child and other aspects of Ugandan culture.
The main event of the day was the school's first jumble sale where the school managed to raise €833.40 for the organisation Nurture Africa.
This money will be used to send one of their teachers, Múinteoir Aislinn Nic Pháidín. to Uganda this Summer.
Aislinn will teach in a local school for three weeks and she said she is very thankful to the school community for their outstanding support.
