Everyone is invited to Community Fair in South Kildare

The free event is being organised by County Kildare LEADER Partnership
Residents of Athy and surrounding areas in south Kildare are being invited to attend the upcoming Athy Community Fair taking place on Thursday, May 28, from 10am to 2pm at the Church of Ireland Community Centre.
The free event is being organised by County Kildare LEADER Partnership through its SICAP Programme in collaboration with organisations including Kildare County Council, Health Service Executive, Irish Wheelchair Association and Sláintecare Healthy Communities.
The “Know Your Community” initiative aims to strengthen local connections and raise awareness of supports and services available across the county.
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet service providers, community organisations and support groups working in areas such as mental health, youth services, healthy living, social inclusion, education, elderly care, addiction supports and community development.
Wayne Fitzgerald of the SICAP Community Engagement Team at County Kildare LEADER Partnership said the fair is focused on “bringing people together, creating connections, and making it easier for individuals and families to access the supports available in their community”.
Mary O’Halloran, Health Promotion and Improvement Officer with the HSE, described Athy as having “such a vibrant and active community spirit” and encouraged people to attend and “make some new connections”.
The event will also include free refreshments, health checks from the Irish Heart Foundation, interactive activities including a Smoothie Bike, and a competition to win one of five €50 Eason vouchers.
A wide range of local organisations are expected to attend, including ALONE, Citizens Information, GROW Mental Health, Athy Family Resource Centre and TFI Local Link Kildare South Dublin.
Organisers said the event is free and open to everyone.
