Des Keogh brings his adaptation and one-man performance of John B Keane’s ‘The Love Hungry Farmer’ to the Riverbank in Newbridge this Thursday, July 11.
The play tells the story of John Bosco McLane, a bachelor of ‘indeterminate’ age and according to his own assessment, ‘past his best’ and evidently still a virgin. McLane’s amourous adventures range from the hilarious to the pitiful. Keogh’s performance was hailed as “fiercely serious and bruisingly hilarious” by the New York Times.
John B Keane’s plays rank amongst the greatest Irish writing, and include ‘Sive’, ‘The Field’ and ‘Big Maggie’.
Tickets for Thursday night’s performance are €16/€14 and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets can be booked at 045 448328 or at www.riverbank.ie.
