A film featuring Brendan O’Carroll and other leading actors, “Dick Dickman P.I.”, which a Leixlip graphic artist did the poster for over three years ago, is getting a screening this week.
Leixlip based graphic artist, Paul Sheridan, was asked to do the poster for the film, showing on RTE 2 this Thursday, 24 July (11.00pm) in the wake of the Mrs. Brown box office success.
Paul designed the poster and looks set to see it used on the DVD cover.
The comedy, featuring Barry O’Neill as a DIY detective, is about the disappearance of a local fiddle player. O’Carroll and June Rodgers play two detectives. It also features Frank Carson, Patrick Bergin, Jon Kenny and Joe Rooney.
Doreen Keogh (of the BBC’s Royale Family) and Brendan Grace also have roles.
Paul, a former Eircom employee, is now busy organising the Art Show section of Shamrokon, the Dublin Eurocon.
The artist, who turned 60 last November, and lives in River Forest, is a fan of Celtic artist, Jim Fitzpatrick.
Shamrokon will host 850 people from all over the world at the Hilton (former Burlington) in August. George RR Martin, the author of Game of Thrones, has registered to attend subject to availability. The Emmy awards could intervene. “He’s actually paying in,” said Paul.
The exhibition has a special literary tribute to Irish gothic writer, J Sheridan Le Fanu.
