The search is on at the Court Yard Hotel in Leixlip for new musical talent to join the star-studded line-up for June’s Leixlip Festival.

There will be a Battle of the Bands compeitition to seek out new local talent to take to the main festival stage at the Court Yard Hotel.

As well as the high-profile festival appearance, the winning act will also get recording studio time, regular monthly gigs in the hotel’s Arthur’s Live Venue, and a cash prize.

Brian Bradley of Brass Neck Management will be joined by the Central Entertainment Bureau to judge the competition heats, with semi-finals taking place on May 19 and 26, with the hotly-contested final happening on the eve of the festival, Thursday, June 2.

The winners will join a line-up of headline acts, including The Strypes, Ryan Sheridan, Hermitage Green and the Jerry Fish Electric Slideshow.

Also rocking the yard will be Interskalactic’s unique big band Jamaican ska, indie rock energy from Dublin’s Scoops and an eclectic classic rock set by The Harkeys.

Kildare duo Picture This will also join Dublin-based grunge pop Otherkin and indie three-piece Million Little Gods.

The Battle of the Band winners will perform on Friday, June 5. The festival takes place over the June Bank Holiday from Friday 3 to Monday 6 June, with over 20 acts and DJs. For more information, see
